Unique Services & Programs
The following are some of the programs and services we currently offer.
Life Books
This is an album in which each foster child documents her or his journey through life.
Information includes but is not limited to: pictures and names of biological family
members, foster placements, report cards, special events and memories, family tree(s), etc.
Foster Parent Mentoring
Foster Family Service is blessed to have a number of long-time foster parents who have gained
remarkable skills and perspective. These special individuals and families are paired with new
foster families for the purpose of providing peer support, education and training.
Clinical Social Work
Foster youth often have emotional trauma resulting from abuse that led them to foster care.
For some this can include severe emotional reactions that warrant specialized care. We have
fully licensed therapists, as well as a clinical psychologist and psychiatrist on staff to
address these types of special needs.
Independent Living Skills
Foster youth approaching age 18 must receive information and training as to independent living after discharge from
foster care. Foster Family Service has many staff and foster parents with education, experience and passion for
creating individualized and group services to assist our older youth.
Therapeutic Visit Program
Foster Family Service has championed a model for facilitating visits between foster children and their biological
parents with the goal of teaching improved interactions and parenting skills.
Adoptions by Foster Family Service
We are licensed as a full service adoption agency.
Since our inception in 1989 our families have adopted more than 100 children, and we envision
our adoption license as a wonderful means to facilitate more "fos-adopt" placements.
Statistical Data
Because our revenue comes entirely from the government (federal, state and local) we recognize
the importance of demonstrating outcomes that result from our Agency's work.
Family Resource Centers
We are partners with 'Strategies' and are spearheading a family resource center for the City of Oroville
to provide services side-by-side with several other community-based organizations to serve at-risk
families there as well.
